This week, we begin to highlight real weddings that were featured inside the pages of the 2016 issue of Southern Bride & Groom! On the blog, we will be able to show you even more beautiful photographs – many of which did not appear in print – from each of these show-stopping weddings. We begin with Kelly and Cameron who had a fairytale castle wedding at Barclay Villa on Memorial Day weekend.
Kelly Carroll and Cameron Burns felt a mutual attraction when they first met on the rooftop of Solas in Downtown Raleigh, but the timing wasn’t quite right until a few months later when they ran into one another at Sullivan’s Steakhouse. From their first date, they found they shared many hopes, dreams and beliefs. A friendship turned into love.
Their proposal took place at another popular Raleigh restaurant, Mura. Cameron took Kelly out for an unforgettable sushi dinner, and when they walked outside in front of the water fountains he got down on one knee and asked her to marry him. To top it off, he had a suite reserved at The Renaissance Hotel and arranged dessert and a champagne toast on the rooftop.
Having already seen Barclay Villa once before with her mother, Kelly remembered its castle-like elegance and colorful gardens as her ideal wedding setting. The mansion is surrounded by natural beauty and has antique pieces throughout the home. The grand staircase is ideal for a spectacular entrance by the couple and their wedding party.
The couple infused the Barclay Villa with romantic pale pink, ivory and gold colors. Since Kelly is a bird lover, the ceremony beneath the stone tower concluded with a dove release fit for a fairy tale. Hydrangeas and pink roses towered high on the two head tables and candles and flowers covered tables throughout the ballroom in a stunning display created by Fresh Affairs.
The couple was thrilled with the unique photography in a mix of color and black and white by Joe Payne and Kelly remarked, “Joe has an amazing eye! He did our engagement and wedding pictures, which were both breathtaking. I would recommend him to any bride!”
“Kelly shared with us that “SB&G was there every step of the way! I reviewed, highlighted, cut and copied so many concepts and pictures from SB&G magazine that helped make my wedding special.” She added that her wedding planner, Kimberly, of Weddings by the Vine “was extremely helpful, especially when it came to having the excellent vendors work together seamlessly.”
The bride remembers feeling elated as she stood on the balcony overlooking the ceremony. She saw her guests, who had traveled from all across the country, on their feet and smiling as the procession began. Kelly and Cameron’s day proved to be a very special gathering on a beautiful Memorial Day weekend.
