It’s Wedding Feature Wednesday at Southern Bride & Groom! Today we’re excited to share Meredith and Jorge’s beautiful bilingual wedding in Chapel Hill, captured by talented photographer, Southern Love Studios.
Jorge and Meredith met at East Chapel Hill High School through the choral department. Though they dated on and off in high school, they began dating seriously in college after they reconnected through UNC-Chapel Hill’s music classes.
On a weekend visit back to Chapel Hill, Jorge took Meredith to the arboretum at UNC. After a few minutes of sitting on a nearby bench, it began to hail! Meredith suggested that they leave (she was, of course, unaware of Jorge’s plans). Not to be deterred, Jorge dropped to one knee and proposed. The proposal was captured on film by a close friend who had been notified of the proposal in advance.
Jorge and Meredith planned the wedding long-distance since he lived in Atlanta and she lived in Chapel Hill. Once they decided that the event would be bilingual and that the menu would include both Peruvian and Southern food, they set about the process of finding venues that could accommodate their bicultural ceremony and reception. They found Southern Bride & Groom to be a big help in identifying vendors like Tre Bella Florist, American Party Rentals and Southern Love Studios.
Jorge’s and Meredith’s wedding colors were orange and navy, inspired by the orange and blue sapphires of Meredith’s wedding ring. All of the wedding decorations were navy, orange, or gold. Meredith made many of the decorations herself, including the gold-foiled signs in Spanish and English. Many of the attendees commented on the merging of Spanish and English throughout the ceremony, reception, and decorations.
Many of their family and friends traveled from abroad to share in the festivities. Jorge and Meredith are so grateful to those who came from Sweden, England, and Peru!
Since Jorge is a hip hop music producer in Atlanta, there was also a musical theme to the event. Guests signed a record and the couple even serenaded each other during the reception.
Towards the end of the reception, Jorge and Meredith snuck away to ring the bell at the Horace Williams House.
Just one look at the photos below and it’s easy to tell this was a wedding full of laughter and fun!
